Kayla has been coaching with us for 6 years at the MacColl YMCA. She got her start with PODS Swimming in 2015 as a swim instructor and later became a swim coach for the Kirkbrae Krocs for 3 summers. In her time at MacColl, Kayla has helped our team see lots of success in both the YMCA and USA Swimming organizations. She has coached numerous YMCA New England Championship top finishers. In her first year coaching USA Swimming, Kayla produced a Top 10 athlete in the New England Swimming LSC, with swimmers placing top 5 in high points at both Gold and Age Group Championships. Additionally, Kayla has guided Silver and Age Group qualifiers, as well as several standout performers at the RIIL State Championships and within the Narragansett Swim League.
She swam for Commonwealth Swimming South (formerly Gators Swimming/Seacoast Swimming Association) for eight years and was a varsity swimmer for St. Mary Academy - Bay View High School. Her best events were the 200 IM and 100 Breast. Kayla currently lives in Cumberland, RI, with her husband. She graduated with her BS in Finance as well as an MBA from Providence College. She is also working full-time as a Senior Accountant for Restaurant Accounting Solutions.
Dan is about to start his 11th year coaching at MacColl. He started out here as a swim coach and lifeguard, but has since moved up the ranks to being our associations Regional Aquatics Director. In Dan's many years here, a number of his swimmers have moved on to swim at the collegiate level and/or have become swim coaches themselves. He swam for the Cumberland Lincoln Boys and Girls Club Penguins for 12 years where he competed in both USA Swimming and the RIMA league. He was also a four-year varsity swimmer for Lincoln High School. His best events were the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Dan currently lives in Cumberland, RI with his wife. In his role as Regional Aquatics Director, he manages the association's aquatic programs, aquatic venues, and all aquatics staff.
Andy is starting her third year coaching at the MacColl YMCA. She started swimming at the Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket and swam there for 5 years. She then spent 3 years swimming for the North Providence Barracudas and then 2 years swimming for the MacColl YMCA Black Marlins.
Andy also swam on the varsity team at North Providence High School, specializing in the 100 Free and 100 Fly. She is currently a Sophomore at Bryant University, Majoring in Finance with a Minor in Italian.
Q is in his 3rd year coaching at MacColl. He swam for the Black Marlins for just over 10 years. When Q graduated, he was awarded the team's first ever "Team Culture" award that was inspired by his dedication to his teammates and his team.
Q went to Johnston High School and swam in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League for four years. His best events were the 200 IM, 100 Free and 100 Back. He is currently in his Junior year at Rhode Island College for computer science.
